This is the first time the agency will appoint ambassadors. Speaking during the official unveiling of the new ambassadors at the NDLEA headquarters in Lagos yesterday morning, the Director General of the agency, Dr. Femi Ajayi, said Stella and Lamboginny were painstakingly picked for the honour due to their outstanding positive impacts on youths and the society at large. Stella, according to Dr. Ajayi, has been inspiring the youths with her many activities and projects, while Lamboginny has equally proved to be a worthy ambassador, not just with his music, but with his Say No To Crime projects. “Having said this, it is our pleasure to appoint them as our ambassadors, hoping that they will continue with the good workand help reach out to the youths,” the NDLEA DG noted. After the presentation of certificates to Stella and Lamboginny, the entertainers promised not to relent on their oars, adding that they will do all within their reach to assist the agency and its officials in achieving their primary objectives.

A GUNMAN OPENED FIRE IN A SUBURBAN PORTLAND SHOPPIND MALL, KILLING TWO PEOPLE AND OTHERS WOUNDEN: A gunman opened fire in a suburban Portland shopping mall Tuesday, killing two people and wounding another as people were doing their Christmas shopping , authorities said. Witnesses described a scene of chaos and disbelief as a gunman wearing some sort of camouflage outfit and a white mask shot an initial burst of fire and then more rounds at Clackamas Town Center. Shoppers tried to find safe areas as teams of police officers began entering the mall to find the shooter. Clackamas County sheriff's Lt. James Rhodes said later that the gunman was dead, but he wouldn't say how he died or provide any details about him. Authorities were going store-to-store to secure the scene and to escort hiding shoppers outside, but Rhodes said there was no indication that there wasmore than one shooter. Austin Patty, 20, who works at Macy 's, said he saw a man in a white mask carrying a rifle and wearing a bulletproof vest. He heard the gunman say "I am the shooter," as if announcing himself, Patty said. He then fired several shots paced seconds apart. A series of rapid-fire shots in short succession followed. Patty said he ducked to the ground, then ran. His Macy's co-worker, Pam Moore, told The Associated Press the gunman was short, with darkhair, dressed in camouflage. He had body armor and a rifle. "I heard about 20 shots and everyone hit the ground," Moore said. "That's when we all just ran." Shaun Wik, 20, from Fairview, said he was Christmas shopping with his girlfriend and opened a fortune cookie at the food court. Inside was written "live for today, remember yesterday, think of tomorrow." As he read it, he heard three shots. He heard a man he believes was the gunman shout,"Get down!" but Wik and his girlfriend ran. He heard seven or eight more shots. He didn't turn around. "If I had looked back, I might not be standing here," Wik said. "I might have been one of the ones who got hit." Kira Rowland told KGW-TV that she was shopping at Macy's withher infant son when the shots started. "All of a sudden you hear two shots, which sounded like balloons popping," Rowland told the station. "Everybody got on the ground. I grabbed the baby from the stroller and got on the ground." Rowland said she heard people screaming and crying. "I put the baby back in the stroller and ran like hell," Rowland said. "It was awful. It was shots after shots after shots like a massacre. "It was just awful." Holli Bautista, 28, said she was shopping in the Macy's for a Christmas dress for her daughter when she heard a two or three pops that sounded like firecrackers. "I heard people running and screaming and saying 'Get out, there's somebody shooting,'" shetold the AP. "It was a scene of chaos." She said hundreds of shoppers and mall employees started running, and she and dozens of other people were trying to escape through an exit in the department store. 15 KILLED IN SHOOT-OUT WITH BOKO-HARAM SECT: MAIDUGURI, Nigeria. A shootout in northeastern Nigeriabetween security forces and members of a radical Islamist sect killed at least 15 people, including a local police chief, authorities said Tuesday. The shootings took place in the city of Potiskum, which has increasingly become the scene ofviolent attacks by the sect knownas Boko Haram. Army spokesmanLt. Eli Lazarus said the attack began late Sunday night in the city and went on for hours after suspected sect members bombed a local police station andattacked a bank branch. Lazarus said the dead included a police chief and 14 suspected Boko Haram members. Civilians have been killed in such shoot-outs before and Nigeria’s militaryroutinely downplays such casualties. The identity of those who died could not be independently verified Tuesday, though Lazarus said those killed had been carrying weapons and ammunition. LAGOS CHIEF JUDGE FREES 46 PRISONERS FROM IKOYI PRISON: The Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Ayotunde Phillips, yesterday Tuesday December 11th released 46 prisoners, including 75-year-old man, from the Ikoyi Prisons in Lagos during her visit to the prison. TEENAGE GIRL GOT PREGNANT FOR FIVE BOYS IT was a shocking story to the parents and neighbours of a teenage girl and pupil of Ikorenim Primary School in Calabar, Cross River State, Ekamen Asuquo, when a pregnancy test that was conducted on her at the General Hospital, Calabar revealed that she was carrying a four-month pregnancy. The mother of the primary five pupil, who resides at 2, Pipeline Road, Ikorenim had suspected pregnancy, going by the symptoms exhibited by the teenage girl, who was sick for a while as she decided to take her to the hospital after she failed to get well, despite long period of self medication. The mother was rattled when it was discovered that the girl was pregnant after some tests. A neighbour, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said “She has been at home for the past two months always complaining of one ailment or the other and the mother had to take her to the General Hospital after home medication could not heal her in the hope that she could be treated there.” The neighbour, said when the teenage girl was confronted by her mother, who allegedly sells hot drinks and illicit drugs over who was responsible for the pregnancy, she mentioned one Tony, one of the boys that patronises her mother’s hot drinking joint. However, the source hinted that when Tony was confronted, he said “He was the one who dated the teenage girl first but another customer, Jones snatched her from him and when Jones was confronted, he said he had since stopped dating the girl and mentioned another person, who when also confronted, mentioned another boy and at the last count, the number was five.” It was gathered that the mother was infuriated when her daughter confirmed that she slept with all the boys mentioned and could not actually tell who was responsible.
